In summer it is easy for rabbits to over heat and die because, unlike other animals, bunnies have no means of cooling themselves such as panting, or sweating. In the wild, rabbits huddle in their cool underground burrows during the heat of the day. Domestic rabbits often die in summer because they have nowhere to hide from the heat of the sun, and their owners have no idea that they are in trouble until it is far too late.

If you’ve recently purchased a fuzzy baby bunny, or perhaps been gifted one by some kind hearted person, you’re no doubt a little confused. What exactly does one DO with a bunny?
Odds are that your bunny currently regards you with mistrust and suspicion. At least, I would assume so given that a) you are reading this, and b) it is fairly common rabbit behavior. If you have a friendly sweet rabbit then kudos to you, enjoy. If your rabbit is less than you imagined it might be, read on.
Part of the challenge of rabbit ownership is learning to interact in fun ways with your bunny. Many complain that their rabbits do little but sit around and chew hay, or perhaps run away when they are approached. Both these activities can quickly become tiresome after a few minutes of observation, and once owners realize that their bunny isn’t going to do much more than eat and look at them, many rabbits are left to sit in their hutches or cages until they eventually die years later.
It doesn’t have to be this way though, there are ways that you can interact with your rabbit and have fun, they just might not be the ways you had previously thought of. A rabbit is quite different in the way it communicates and the way it plays, but you can learn to play with your bunny, something that will not only increase your rabbit’s quality of life and health, but which is also sure to give you infinitely more enjoyment out of your pet bunny than you might otherwise have…
